Deep in the heart of the north woods there was a small insignificant little town. No one knew it was there because it was hidden within the trees and it was so very small that no one even knew that there was anything living there except for the trees and assorted wildlife.
Tiny little creatures, similar to fairies, but not fairies lived there. They danced about the grasses and gathered berries and other assorted fauna and flora to sustain themselves. Five nuts could feed the entire village for an entire week. On occasion, they would have small wonderful gatherings of all the folk in their village and they would toast life and the joys that they had found everyday within their wood.
Each of them had a small insect that they kept as pets. You wouldn’t think that an insect would be a fine pet, but the generosity and joy of these people even affected the smaller insects of the area, especially the larvae of the grub worm and the ladybugs. The ladybugs were the decided favorite among the young girls who would dress them up in whatever they could find about, and take them to parties, and they would giggle and talk about their parents and about different goals that they had set forth in their lives.
The boys were different, though. The boys were constantly challenging each other to the most outrageous and dangerous of feats. So, you constantly had a broken limb or two. But these creatures had an amazing characteristic of magical, speedy healing; so even a fracture of horrific proportions would heal itself within days.
