November 1, 2016: 1,519 words written; Short 148 words
I work hard at carving out specific time each day to write. Sometimes that's first thing in the morning, and sometimes it's the last thing I do before bedtime. On some days, I walk away from my work mid-day, escape to another place with my laptop and write for an hour. But no matter where or when - the goal is always the same... at least an hour of concentrated writing time.
Today, I was able to get it in first thing in the morning, which is unusual for me because I'm traditionally a night-owl. But, I'm focused on not letting time slip away from me this year. If you've read my previous NaNoWriMo prep post, you'll understand why.
So, it's just after ten o'clock in the morning, and I've almost reached my goal for today. Now, work won't distract me from getting my words written (too much)... and I can now focus on my work without feeling guilty about not writing. I know that sounds backward, but for a writer, it's how I live. But, almost only counts in hand grenades and H-bombs; so I either need to carve out some more writing time today, or add 148 words to my goal for tomorrow. We will see how the day progresses.
I hope that you will follow along and encourage my quest. I really want to have The Last Strand ready for your hands by the Once Upon A Book author event in Frankenmuth, Michigan in August of 2017. To do that, I need to write!
